However, you should be aware of some basic information before you install a faucet. You need to know about the different kinds of faucets and its function. There are some types that are best suited for a certain function. This means you will have to consider where and what the faucet is for. Bathroom sinks and faucets are obviously not similar in terms of functionality as those that are in your kitchen. Here are the basic types and their functions.

  • Dual and single handle kitchen faucet – The single type only has one lever which makes water control easier and quicker. The dual, on the other hand, has different controls for cold and hot water. One should be more convenient and efficient than the other based on how you intend to use it. You should try out both in the model home, showroom, or even in someone else’s kitchen before you purchase one.

You can wash vegetables and clean the sink with ease. The spray gives the flexibility of targeted spraying and you can adjust it depending on how you want to use it. The older models of this type were droopy and heavy. They have the tendency to be difficult to use after an extended use. However, the newer versions are so much better. They are so much more improved in quality and style. In fact there are new designs that have a smaller traditional sprayer mounted to it. It has a reduced spraying volume that can be added to any faucet type by simply adding a hole for the installation.

Aside from the type of faucet, there are some other things you need to consider as well.

  • The reach is one important factor to consider. A faucet with a high arc, for instance, has a limited reach across the basin. This can be inconvenient for some tasks such as cleaning. While there is a solution for it, you may opt to choose others that can accommodate the reach you want.
  • A faucet’s spout height has been improving in the last couple of years. Old spouts tend to be horizontal. The newer ones can soar even up to a foot from the countertop.
